Re: 49ers - Eagles
[We now send you to a live report from the Philadelphia Eagles training camp just days before their season opening showdown with the Washington Redskins]
Sal Paoantonio: This is Sal Paoantonio with breaking news coming from the Eagles' facility here in Philadelphia. Just minutes ago, police arrived on the scene to break up a major altercation between Eagles' coach Jeffrey Dahmer and Pro Bowl cornerback Tarell Brown. According to sources inside the organization, after a quick tape session early this morning, Brown was gathering his belongings from the locker room when he was cornered by Dahmer. Allegedly, Dahmer was very physical and intimidating, wanting Brown to go out for a drink with him. From what we are being told, Brown felt very threatened and just moments later, other Eagles' players were separating the two.
I was able to get a quick word with one of the officers who was inside the locker room when the scuffle broke out and said that Brown was bleeding from the neck, with what appeared to be a chunk of flesh missing, requiring immediate medical attention. Brown was taken to a nearby medical facility to receive stitches. It took seven officers to take Coach Dahmer to the ground, who allegedly had Brown's flesh and skin hanging from his mouth, with a large smile on his face.
Now it is unknown if charges will be pressed on Dahmer or what the organization will do as far as disciplinary actions go, but the word already is that Brown's agent has spoken with team owner Jeffrey Lurie and a trade has been made, just minutes after this incident took place. It appears right now that Brown will be sent back to San Francisco in return for cornerback Jonathan Joseph and a 3rd round pick. You have to wonder what this kind of incident does to the psyche of the organization or if Jonathan Joseph even wants to play for someone who does this to one of his players, but as of now, the deal is being sent to the NFL offices to be processed. From Philadelphia, I'm Sal Paoantonio, ESPN.
